Here are some typical questions we get asked:
Why do clients get into debt?
In almost every case we see, clients have experienced some kind of life event which has caused them to fall into debt. By the time they come to see us, they have typically spent about 6 months trying to manage themselves, but once debt collectors and even bailiffs get involved, they get in contact for help.
What type of debts are usually written off?
About a third of debts are household bills such as energy, water, rent, council tax, phones. About a third is credit card debt and the remainder includes loans, car finance, benefits overpayments and family debts
Who pays the debts that are written off?
The answer to this is nobody pays the debt and the creditor does not get paid. Most companies expect a proportion of debts not to be paid and interest rates are often based on the client’s credit score. In most cases we don’t loose any sleep over the creditor’s finances!
