About Us

Our Aim

Harpenden Money Advice Centre is here to provide free, confidential, non-judgemental and impartial debt and budgeting advice to all who may benefit, regardless of age, ethnic background, beliefs or sexual orientation.

Who are we

Harpenden Money Advice Centre (HMAC) is a group of Christians from various churches in Harpenden, motivated by the love of God to help those in the local community who are struggling with debt. All of the advisers are volunteers who freely give of their time.

Our Background

We started in 2008 as an outreach of Batford Community Church, and in 2012 we became an independent charity.

We are affiliated to Community Money Advice (CMA), a national charity which supports over 160 debt advice centres across the UK.

All our advisers are trained to the CMA Level 3 Award in Generalist Debt Advice, which has been Money Advice Service accredited at Advice Level.
